This piece stands about 35" tall and 21.5 " wide and about 8" deep. This piece required 38 days to complete. This is one of the most purchased pieces and allows the artist to place great meaning into the piece given the large open area they have to work with. It is important to note that each Individual Huichol is truely a handcrafted piece of Mexican Art created by a select number of Artists that have been creating these pieces for generations within their family. First a mold is created and that may be wood, plastic or clay and then a smooth layer of local bees wax is applied to the entire surface for the applications of the micro crystal beads. What is important to note is that mass produced units use larger beads to cover larger areas quicker but honestly look manufactured. The crystal beads that are used are clear, bright and tiny allowing the artist to incorporate the smallest of details in each individual piece. Most pieces have over ten thousand beads incorporated which are applied individually and took the artest weeks to complete.
There are no two identical Huichol's. Each one is created by the artist to be unique; regardless of the size or cost.
Due to the use of the bees wax the Huichol should never be placed in direct sunlight or over a heat producing item.
Our curators visit the Huichol communities in the Mexican States, working with as many families as possible to bring these unique pieces from the Sierra Madre mountain range to your collection.
